Golf School Head Professional

Mark Emery Head Professional San Roque Club

Know Mark Emery, our new Head Professional:

My life's dream was to become a British PGA Professional, as of the early age of six years of age I first picked up a golf club and realized I wanted to become a Golf Professional; this dream continued through my School years, when I was sixteen years of age, ready to go to College I was offered the chance to become the Assistant Professional at the Worcestershire Golf Club (1879) to Grahame Harris his career started at Wentworth Golf Club Surrey, here Grahame learnt his trade with Bernhard Gallagher, they were both Assistant Professional's, Bernhard went on to become a European Tour Player and Ryder Cup Player and later Captain of the Ryder Cup Team; Grahame became a Club Professional and basically taught me the trade, the Old School way, I will never forget this.

I qualified as a British PGA Professional at a very early age learning all the skills of the trade from club repair to Shop management to the passion which i have found for Teaching the game of golf and passing my knowledge onto others; I then moved to Tewkesbury Park Golf and Country Club, where my experience's of teaching continued with the chance to work with members and Hotel guests, and the chance to work with Dennis Pugh who now teaches many top European Tour Players including (Monty) Colin Montgomerie only to name one.

Life then changed dramatically, I was offered a job teaching in Munich, Germany, so I left England, i started at a very small Driving Range just south of the city this was a real experience and eye opener; here I became my first introduction to golf in Spain (Costa del Sol) this was 25 years ago, a Travel Agent from Munich asked me to fly down check out the Golf Courses and write a report, so I started in Malaga playing different courses; last stop was a course called The San Roque Club I drove up this magnificent drive way and landed in (Paradise) I fell in love The Old Course amazing, never looked back; a few years later came the New Course designed by Seve and Pete Dye, a gem, so i started bringing my students from Munich, Germany, here.

I then moved on to Golf Club Worthsee as Head Professional which then became one of the Leading Golf Clubs of Germany; my next step was Golf Club Gut Rieden just south of Munich in Starnberg, where i have spent a very happy eighteen years of my life teaching 5 to 80 year olds, Teams, Men Ladies Seniors, such a great experience, so by now I have been visiting The San Roque Club for over 25 years bringing my Golf School's from Germany here and this year in August I'm suddenly offered the Head Professional's job at The San Roque Club, a dream come true from a young Assistant Professional from England to Paradise. I'm really looking forward to pass on my knowledge of the golf swing and many other aspects of this great great game a dream sometimes come true.
