Sushi is the term usually given to any raw fish served in a Japanese restaurant but there are many variations like Maki and Sashimi all of which are served in Kamakura.

Sushi originally invented as a fast food in Japan, is the term given for of a thin slice of raw fish served over a bed of tightly packed rice.  Salmon, white fish, squid, tuna, smoked eel are all the typical ingredients of Kamakura Sushi.

Maki includes many non raw fish variations like the California roll which as the name suggests, the main ingredient be it tuna, avocado or prawn is rolled within rice with roasted sesame seeds.  A delicious alternative for those who don’t like raw fish.

Sashimi are slices of raw fish served on their own.

At Kamakura we can prepare a platter which includes all three varieties or a platter of your favourite type.

*All our food is prepared fresh on the spot by our chef Joseph so please allow a little time for him to prepare your order.  We recommend you book sushi platters ahead of you arrival*.
