Carlos Rodiles was the winner of the Professional Championship Madrid

Carlos Rodiles

Carlos Rodiles has carded an excellent 67 to finish 9 under par, he said “it has been a complicated round, there was a constantly changeable wind which was difficult to predict, but I have played very well, I have hit the ball with a lot of confidence and managed to get through the last 18 holes without a bogey.  There have been very few black spots in the last 3 days, I have played very consistently.  Starting on a 5 stroke difference didn’t make it easy for me to win, but having only one leader I knew I could do it if I got a good round in.  It’s a pity for Bragulat, because he played very well but I am delighted with my result as I really needed it. Like everyone else I was nervous, but I have worked incredibly hard this summer and things have worked out. This gives me tremendous confidence to affront my next tournaments, the PQ and Final, where you cannot even catch a cold otherwise you’re out.  When you play with confidence, sometimes rounds have a way of playing themselves.  After going through a number of complicated years, I have regained my confidence, I have the support of The San Roque Club and I think that if things end the way they have started this week I could return to the European Tour, that is my objective”.
