Dear San Roque members,
Another great week at the Club with temperatures reaching 24 degrees and the greens touching a record 14 on the Stimpmeter – don’t worry they have been toned down a little!
Members Buy Out – latest
A little later than anticipated (apologies!) but the Members Circular was eventually distributed last Friday and I hope that you found it a useful update on the Club’s current position, the time pressures we are facing and the exciting opportunity we have. We have received many emails already and I am pleased to see that many members are expressing their intent to purchase a share in the Club should our MBO prove successful. By joining together, we have a very real chance of collectively owning the San Roque Golf Club! Please accept my apologies for not thanking you all by return email…as you can imagine, we have been inundated with responses.
As expected, we have also received a lot of questions and it will take some time to respond to these too – please bear with us! There are a number of recurring questions, so it makes sense to address those via a ‘Frequently Asked Question FAQ’ paper later this week. We will then aim to stage a follow up Q&A session via conference call. We appreciate & fully take on board all comments and suggestions, but the overall plan is to ensure that the new membership structure is for the common good and we need to ensure that we have learnt from previous mistakes.
The week ending Sunday 27th January 2019 may well be renamed Jezza’s week….Jeremy Sibbons took Tuesday’s roll up with 37 points holding off Esmond (36pts) and Kevin Hitchcock (32pts). Thursday’s roll up saw further joy for Jeremy Sibbons as his 37 points took the honours, pushing Kevin Hitchcock into second (36pts) and David Campbell into third (32pts).
Sunday 27th January saw blustery conditions for the Annual Texas Scramble Monthly Medal and a fantastic turnout of 56 players enjoyed the bright sunshine – I am delighted to say that Jeremy’s team won with a 10 birdie/bogey free 56.3 – Jeremy did have a little assistance from David Macgregor, Dan Bannister and myself! Second place with a net 58.8 went to Derek Rogers, Mekki Abdulla, Graeme Willis and Kevin Hitchcock. Third place went to Mike Cowburn, Alistair Locke, Kevin Bastone and Duncan Quigley with a net 60.7. A fantastic day – great golf Jezza and well played all!
Aside from the usual roll ups on Tuesdays and Thursday (a mixed roll up), we have another Ranking on Saturday 2nd February 2019. Just a reminder, the entry forms for the Singles and Pairs Matchplay are on the board – be sure to put your name down or let the pro shop know firstname.lastname@example.org. Will close entry for both tournaments at the end of February.
Hope to see you on the course during the week,
Swing it well,
All the best,
