San Roque Ladies Newsletter
Week ending 14 July 2019
What a very busy week at San Roque.
On Monday the Alcaidesa team joined us at San Roque for the return leg of the ladies interclub match. The 0-3 result from Alcaidesa was reversed giving us a draw overall. The match was followed by a very enjoyable lunch in the new Restaurant sampling some of the new cuisine.
The roll up on Tuesday was contested by 9 ladies and a junior. Claudia the junior, who plays off a handicap of 5, had the best score of 31 points. As Claudia is not eligible to win the money was won by Penny Cooke with 30 points closely followed by Nicky Triay and Liz Griffiths with 29 points each – Nicky having the lower handicap.
Wednesday was a rest day!!
On Thursday 7 ladies played with Penny Cooke taking first place with 33 points closely followed by Pat French with 32 points and Debbie Richards third with 31 points. Claudia played with the junior men and scored 34 points.
The official opening of the new bar and restaurant in the Tony Jacklin House was celebrated by around 150 people on Friday evening. It was a splendid evening with another interesting selection of tapas.
The Parkinson charity tournament was held on Saturday with a number of members and guests taking part. The top lady was Pip Vincent with an excellent 37 points. Bruno and Erna had collected an impressive number of tournament and raffle prizes, together with various auction lots. I am sure that a substantial amount was raised for the Charity.
The week ended with International Day on Sunday which had a pairs better ball format. Men took the first prize however the ladies were represented with Christine and Huw Williams coming second and Anne Middlehurst and Norman Savitz third. The best dressed couple were considered to be Noelle and Billy Casey – see photo. This was followed by an excellent Sunday roast lunch which everyone seemed to enjoy.
This week is somewhat quieter than last week – there are the usual Tuesday and Thursday roll ups, the mixed interclub against Alcaidesa on Wednesday and the July ranking will be held on Saturday – please sign up.
There are still spaces in Mark’s clinic on Friday afternoon – there is a list on the noticeboard.
Have a great golfing week.
